Anti-corruption Training & Education

The training program is the nervous system of the anti-corruption program. Corporations have a responsibility not only to establish adequate instructions and procedures for preventing corruption, but also to train the organization in how to follow and use them.

But a corporation’s ability to prevent corruption is defined by the culture and core values it establishes within the organization. Anti-corruption instructions and procedures are useless unless the employees feel that this is the true culture of the organization, and that they are all required to follow them – objectively, systematically and with best effort.

The basic principle is that corruption must be prevented where the risks are created. The employees most exposed to corruption, such as sales & marketing, business development, purchasing, etc, are therefore in the frontline of the preventive work. But for most employees the task to assess and mitigate risks for corruption is not a daily activity. 

A recurrent training program is key for upholding a corporation’s defence against corruption, by contiguously reinforce the corporate culture as well as the awareness and skills on how to identify and mitigate corruption risks.
